Lie With Me is a sexually explicit romantic venture by husband-wife duo, Clement Virgo the director of the film and Tamara Berger, his wife on whose novel this movie is based. The film explores the depths of human relationships and distinguishes between lust and true love. The young lovers Leila (Lauren Lee Smith) and Dave (Eric Balfour) are involved in a sexual relationship, which becomes more than just sex, but the two have never experienced this kind of a feeling and cannot make out whether they are in love.

The film begins with Leila masturbating while watching a pornography film and the scene continues on to more sex when Leila goes out to a club where she meets Dave. He is there with his girlfriend while Leila is dancing with several other men who liberally touch her body without her minding it. She then takes one of them into one of the alleyways and indulges in sexual innuendos. Dave is watching all this while his girlfriend follows suit taking the lead from Leila.

There is no conversation between Leila and Dave apart from eye-contact. They meet a few more times again without speech and finally get together in his apartment for a heated sexual encounter. Only after this do they introduce themselves to each other. The two are seen making love almost everywhere, inside closed doors as well as in public places. Little do they realize that this relationship is taking them beyond a sex flick.

What actually has triggered off this sex mania in Leila is a bit hard to tell. She has family problems at home with her parents not getting along with each other and her mother finally deciding to divorce her father. It could be this frustration that Leila tries to calm down with her sexual episodes, but it is hard to tell. On the other hand, Dave is nursing an ailing father. The two have their problems, but are not able to share their feelings and they find their relationship going sour.

They need to discover for themselves that they are in love and not only sexually attracted to each other. This is what makes the film different, as it differentiates between eternal and physical love. Although the film has more sex scenes than dialogues, it delivers a message if you delve deep into it.
